IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF DOCTOR SCHWEITZER

When our friend Bunnarith, pastor at the Cambodian Church in Wittenheim invited us to join him and his family and friends for a short stay in Switzerland, we did not hesitate.

It’s in the region of Interlaken that we spent 3 great days at the Kurhaus Grimmialp Hotel, owned by a Christian couple.

The view from our window was just breath-taking. I guess it is difficult to find on Earth a more beautiful landscape.

We learnt that the famous missionary Albert Schweitzer often came to that hotel for rest and inspiration. Doctor Schweitzer, born in Alsace, France went out with his wife to Gabon, West Africa to serve among the lepers. In 1952 he received the Nobel Peace Prize.

One afternoon Yukki and I took the trail, along the stream and through the woods, that Albert Schweitzer took when he came on vacation.

Sunday morning our little group met in the chapel of the hotel for a time around God’s Word.
