THE OLD LADY WHO MET THE SHEPHERD

The Weekly Update – March 31, 2025

We met her in one of the most remote places of Central France.

From her home, she can admire Puy Violent, one of the Cantal’s many volcanoes. In this part of the country, there are probably more red hair cows than inhabitants!

As soon as we greet her, this warm-hearted 90-year-old grandmother shares with us her great fear. “Fear of dying…” she says.

“Do you know Madame, that you can actually be at peace in the face of death?”

“Can I ? Then tell me how.”

She opens the door to a conversion led by the Holy Spirit.

We give her a copy of Luke’s Gospel and invite her to turn to Jesus in prayer.

The next day, the old lady invites us back to her house for a drink and snacks.

We share the story of the lost sheep found by the Good Shepherd.

She hands us a sheet of paper: “Please write down the prayer that I need to pray.”

With great conviction, she prays out loud:

“Jesus, I believe you died on the cross for my sins. Forgive all my sins. I believe you are my Saviour. Take my fear and give me your peace. I want to follow you as my Savior and my Lord.”

Far away in the beautiful mountains of Central France, a lost sheep has been found.

There are multitudes of lonely, isolated elderly people so ready to hear the Good News…
