Many Christian organizations such as Youth With A Mission or Holy Games have realized that the Olympic Games are a golden opportunity to make Christ known to athletes and fans from all over the world.
While Timothée is in the north of France visiting his parents, Yukki will be taking part with her sister in evangelistic outreaches during the Games on the streets of Paris.
Last Sunday, we were in Vichy. The city (with its state-of-the-art sports facilities) provided training for 34 Olympic teams before they head for the French capital. As we arrived at an evangelical church, we spotted a few minutes before the service one of these teams parked in front of the church building.
Here was a golden opportunity to share the Gospel!
We quickly entered the church to ask if they had any gospels. One lady had just what we needed. So we were able to give the 6 French athletes a Gospel of John, which they gladly accepted. We told them: “You must not only look after your body, but also for your soul”, before adding: “Olivier Giroud (French footballer and committed Christian) reads this same book every day!”
Let’s pray that during the Olympics this summer, churches in France will take advantage of this unique opportunity to make the greatest champion of all time, known to everyone!
