The Weekly Update – June 9, 2025
Immediately after the Congress on Evangelism, we took a full day out, walking, to explore Berlin.
One of the highlights was coming face to face with a section of the old wall, which for years separated Germany in two. Erected in the heart of Berlin on the night of August 12-13, 1961, the ‘Wall of Shame’ was guarded day and night by 14,000 guards and 600 dogs.
Then, on November 9, 1989, the wall fell!
Ever since Adam, man has been separated from God by a wall. The sacrifices of the Old Testament failed to bring it down. When Jesus offered himself on the Cross, the wall collapsed!
“ For Christ is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall.” Eph. 2 v 14
As we walked around Berlin, we saw a line on the ground , crossing one street after the other, that reminds people that there used to be a wall. On Earth, there’s an indelible red line, the blood of Jesus, that reminds us that 2000 years ago, the wall of shame was forever destroyed.
