The Weekly Update – September 22, 2025
Accompanied by our friends Ivan and Mélanie from Gannat (the same town in Central France where my parents began their missionary work in 1965), we arrived in Wattrelos, near the Belgium border on Saturday afternoon.
At 4 p.m., my father and mother were settling into the CLC bookstore in Lille to sign copies of their biography and share some experiences of God’s grace and providence (which can be found in their book).
A woman who was in the bookstore left without getting a copy of the book. A few minutes later, as she was walking along the pavement heard a voice in her heart saying, “Go back to the CLC and get a copy of this missionary couple’s biography.” And that’s what she did!
The next day, Sunday, September 21, we celebrated Matthew Paton’s 88th birthday at a Chinese restaurant nearby.
It didn’t take long for my parents to start witnessing and giving out Gospel tracts to various customers at their table. In the evening, in the park opposite their appartement, they continued to distribute the Good News to passers-by. We will never forget this scene: my dad, with his walker, intercepting a jogger, who grabbed the Gospel tract while running!
The passion for lost souls that shines through every page of their book is as strong today as it was when they began their ministry in France 60 years ago.
