The Weekly Update – October 19, 2026
The Book of Acts tells us that “a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened…And when she was baptised…”
Geneviève, a 71-year-old woman, is very much like that seller of purple.
It was during a house church service held in a small town near Antibes, South of France that Geneviève was baptized yesterday.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she shared her testimony with the few witnesses gathered there.
She had longed to publicly commit her life to Jesus.
We baptized her in an inflatable hot tub set up outdoors. Geneviève emerged from the water, beaming in the sunshine, as her favourite praise song, “Comment ne pas te louer?”, played in the background.
In the afternoon, on the flight from Nice to Lyon, we were both grateful to God for having been part of the baptism of this “Lydia of the French Riviera.”
