{"id":4605,"date":"2026-07-20T10:29:57","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T08:29:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timotheepaton.com\/?p=4605"},"modified":"2026-07-20T10:29:58","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T08:29:58","slug":"cest-soit-le-sang-soit-le-vin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timotheepaton.com\/en\/cest-soit-le-sang-soit-le-vin\/","title":{"rendered":"IT\u2019S EITHER BLOOD OR WINE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <strong>The Weekly Update<\/strong> \u2013 July 20, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are currently in the Book of Exodus as part of our daily Bible reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the account of the first plague sent upon Egypt, Moses stands before Pharaoh and declares, \u201cI will strike the water of the Nile with the staff that is in my hand, and it will be turned into blood.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I meditated on this passage from Exodus 7, I thought of Jesus\u2019 first miracle in John 2, at the wedding in Cana: \u201cThe master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exodus 7: Water turned into blood. John 2: Water turned into wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exodus 7: First plague. John 2: First miracle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exodus 7: The curse of the Old Covenant. John 2: The blessing of the New Covenant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consequences are opposite: on one hand, the fish of the Nile died, the river became foul, and the Egyptians stopped drinking its water. (v. 18) On the other hand, there is wine for all the guests, and the disciples believe in Jesus.
