Only then, from verse 25 onwards, does he present the Lord with his demands.

Here’s the key: praise leads to request.

When I praise God, He comes and sits with me. From this communion with the Father flows intercession.

Yukki recalls how this truth was verified when she a little girl: if she enjoyed being with her Mum or Dad, and honoured them, she could easily ask them if they could buy her, for example, a dress she had seen in a store window. A child who praises her Daddy and tells him how much she loves him won’t be shy making a request.

Of course, I don’t praise God so that I can have his blessings, but inevitably, by praising God (as Solomon did), I see the doors to God’s favour open.

Yukki found an old book at church the other day that I started reading last night: ‘Praise Avenue’ by Don Gosset, which ties in with what we discovered this morning in our Bible reading.

Timothée and Yukki

The Weekly Update comes out every Monday at www.timotheepaton.com

Photo taken in Vichy along the banks of the Allier River, by Yukki

[1

post-4252","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-non-classe
["GET
